Cascade Challenge

April 17-19, 2020 at Fire Mountain BSA Camp, Mt Vernon

***3/13/20 Cascade Challenge 2020 is CANCELED***

**Registration Opened November 1, 2019**

Hello Girl Scouts, Leaders, Volunteers and Judges:

With heavy hearts, the planning committee regrets to inform you that Cascade Challenge 2020 has been cancelled. This is in accordance with the decision by Girl Scouts of Western Washington to cancel events through April 27th due to COVID-19 concerns. Although this decision was not our own, we are committed to the welfare and safety of all Girl Scouts and Volunteers that attend our event and agree this is for the best.

Girl Scout troops and Leaders: We will be meeting on Tuesday to finalize funding logistics and provide information regarding refunds to your troop. Please keep an eye on your emails for that information.

We will also work on securing a date for spring of 2021 and inform you as soon as we know!

Be well and stay safe out there,

Cascade Challenge Committee: Ellen, Karen, Cathy, Karin,  and Kat

Cascade Challenge is a primitive outdoor camping competition weekend for Cadette and Senior/Ambassador Girl Scouts. Come as a troop or form your own Cascade Challenge group*.

Arrive Friday afternoon to set up camp, relax, and maybe mingle with other troops around the campfire. All challenges will take place on Saturday, where girls will be evaluated on teamwork, leadership skills, and combined knowledge in the preselected skill areas. Challenges are completed without ‘help’ from leaders during the events. Saturday night includes Challenge Dinner followed by a roaring lakeside campfire with songs, skits, and good old fun.

The awards and recognition ceremony on Sunday brings the weekend to a close. Troops bring the equipment necessary for primitive troop camping and will be
cooking all their own meals. Water, firewood, and outhouses are provided for you.

*If your Girl Scout troop doesn’t want to go, or doesn’t have enough interest, get together with another troop or form a group just for this weekend! It only takes 2 scouts and 2 advisors to be a group. Also, Individual Registered Members (IRMs) may sign up, they need to be placed with a troop or form their own group, ahead of time.

Adult Volunteers Needed: We need MANY FABULOUS, FUN, volunteers to be our judges for the event: come for the weekend, come for just Saturday, or come and judge dinner only. See our Judge section for more information.

This Friday to Sunday camping opportunity is brought to you by a committee of dedicated volunteers and hosted by Girl Scouts of Western Washington Service Unit 245.

  1. Sorry no, but they can sure prepare and train with the rest of the troop. Then next year they can join in too.
